This policy covers the Potwise iOS app. It is separate from the Omnitics website privacy policy, which covers this website.

Potwise is made by Siddhesh Rane, who publishes it on the App Store under his own name. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Siddhesh Rane.

The short version: Potwise has no server, collects nothing, and keeps your data on your phone and in your own iPhone backups. It sends nothing anywhere by itself: data leaves your phone only when you share or send something.

What Potwise collects

Nothing. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier, and no tracking of any kind.

Potwise makes no network calls. It has no server to send data to.

That is true of the version on the App Store today. If it ever changes, this page changes first, and the date at the top changes with it.

What Potwise stores, and where

Everything you enter stays in the app's private storage on your device:

  • Players: names, their emoji and colour, and a phone number if you added them from Contacts or typed one in
  • Groups and games: buy-ins and rebuys with their times, chip transfers between players, chip counts, results, and which settle-up lines you marked as settled
  • Your settings, such as the default buy-in, which currency symbol to show, and whether taps vibrate

None of it is uploaded, backed up to us, or shared with anyone. We cannot see it, and we could not retrieve it for you if you asked.

Potwise does not exclude its data from backups, so it is included in your own iPhone backups to iCloud or a computer, if you use them.

Contacts

If you choose to add players from Contacts, iOS asks your permission first, and you can allow all your contacts or only some of them. Potwise reads the names and phone numbers of the contacts iOS lets it see, on your phone, so it can show you a list you can search. That list is not saved.

Potwise keeps only the people you tap to add: their name and, if they have one, one phone number, stored on your device. The number is shown on the player's card, lets Potwise recognise that person if you add them from Contacts again, and lets you text them a link to Potwise if you choose. Potwise itself never uploads or sends contact data.

Declining the permission is fine: you can type names instead. Everything else still works except the offer to text newly added players a link, and you can still share a link to Potwise from Tell your friends in Potwise's Settings.

Payments

There are none. Potwise has no payment integration of any kind: no payment provider, no in-app purchase, no wallet, and no link out to any payment app. It never handles money and never sees any payment credential, because it has nowhere to put one.

Players settle up between themselves, away from the app. Marking a line as settled updates the record on your phone and nothing else.

The currency setting

Choosing a currency changes only the symbol amounts are drawn with. It performs no conversion, applies no exchange rate, and never alters a stored value: a 1,000 buy-in is stored as 1,000 either way.

Until you pick a symbol, Potwise uses the one for your iPhone's region if it offers it, and no symbol otherwise. It reads the region setting on your phone and sends it nowhere. You can choose Chips (no symbol) for any new game, or make it the default in Potwise's Settings.

Sharing and export

When you share a game summary or export a CSV, that data goes wherever you send it, using the standard iOS share sheet. Potwise does not send it anywhere on its own.

After you add players from Contacts, Potwise can offer to text them a link to the app. If you go ahead, it opens the iOS Messages compose screen with a short message and the phone numbers of the players you are texting filled in. The message links to Potwise on the App Store and may name your group. Nothing is sent unless you tap send on that screen, and Potwise cannot send a text on its own.

Age

Potwise is rated 18+ and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Deleting your data

In Potwise, open Settings and tap Delete all data to remove every group, player and game from this iPhone. Your preferences, such as the default buy-in, stay until you delete the app. Deleting the app removes everything Potwise stored on this iPhone.

We keep no copy, so we cannot restore anything for you. If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, a backup made earlier may still contain Potwise's data, and restoring that backup brings it back.

Export a CSV first if you want a record of your finished games. Potwise cannot import it back.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Potwise ever sends data off the device, such as optional iCloud sync or shared games, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described plainly here rather than buried.
